MINERVA is a project dedicated to diverse artistic works under the name of the goddess presiding over poetry, knowledge, art, and craftsmanship. Centered on publishing books and organizing art exhibitions, it conducts a wide range of promotional activities. Since its inception in 2005, it has held art exhibitions at cultural institutions both domestically and internationally, receiving acclaim from various quarters. Since 2015, MINERVA has partnered with the Royal British Academy of Arts (RBA), an institution with over 200 years of history, marking its 10th anniversary in 2025.
Granted a Royal Warrant in the 19th century, allowing it to bear the title “Royal,” the RBA elevated its prestige under successive presidents, including the charismatic James McNeill Whistler, who led the institution with charismatic leadership.
Next year marks 55 years since Queen Elizabeth II officially praised the opening of the RBA’s new headquarters, named the Mall Galleries, on Carlton House Terrace in the London Royal Estate. It also marks the centenary of Queen Elizabeth II’s birth.
Amidst the anticipated excitement in London for this significant milestone of the beloved former Queen, the RBA has generously supported the holding of the 11th “MINERVA 2026” at its historic base, the Mar Galleries.
This exhibition will be held at the Kyoto Ceramic Art Museum, which is highly regarded for its 2020 modern renovation while preserving its historic main building—the oldest surviving public art museum architecture in Japan. It will deepen ties with RBA board members and foster valuable exchange between Japan and the UK.
