～Profile～
At the age of 19, during his first visit to Austria, he participated in a German language summer course at the University of Salzburg and traveled through the Salzkammergut lake district. His encounter with the light and air—so different from those in Japan—became the foundation for his subsequent creative work.
After graduating from the Faculty of Law at Gakushuin University in 1977, he worked as an international logistics forwarder for 43 years. He was involved in logistics for overseas trade shows—including the Hannover Messe—and export operations, etching the landscapes of various parts of Europe he visited through his work and travels into his memory.
Upon retiring in 2020, he moved to Atami and began creating oil paintings in earnest. Drawing on the landscapes he encountered abroad, the sea and morning light of Atami, the aerial views he witnessed while paragliding, and his experience of surviving an accident, he transforms these elements into works of art that transcend realism to become inner landscapes.
The theme of his work is “Light and Memory.” He continues to paint landscapes that resonate with the memories and emotions of each viewer by superimposing his own emotions and life’s turning points onto beautiful scenery.
In 2026, he established YUJI YOKOO ARTWORKS, LLC. He distributes his works both domestically and internationally through original paintings, giclée prints, and commissioned pieces.
Biography
1977: Graduated from the Faculty of Law at Gakushuin University. Entered the international logistics industry.
1977–2020: Worked for 43 years as an international logistics forwarder. Engaged in logistics for international trade fairs and exhibitions, export operations, and handling overseas clients.
2017: Encouragement Award, International Art Grand Prix Exhibition (“Green Tyrol”)
2018: Encouragement Award, Tokyo Art Exhibition (“Hay”)
2019: Selected for Special Mention at the Tokyo Art Exhibition for “Tree Shade – The Ghost of the Tower of London”
2020: Moved to Atami and began working full-time as an oil painter.

I travel the world and capture the emotions I feel when viewing the landscape from the sky, depicting them as scenes of light and memory. Rather than simply reproducing the places I’ve actually seen, I layer the emotions I felt at that moment—as well as the memories that linger afterward—onto a single canvas.
